Deputy Minister of Works Visits CIDB to Explore Advancements in Training and Construction Innovation

The Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia (CIDB) received an official visit from the Deputy Minister of Works, YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, on 21 January 2025 – at the Central Region Malaysian Construction Academy (Akademi Binaan Malaysia – ABM) and the Malaysian Works Laboratory (Makmal Kerja Raya Malaysia – MKRM), Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur.

The visit provided media representatives with insights and exposure to the training conducted by ABM Central Region and the functions and services provided by the MKRM for the nation’s construction industry.

MKRM, managed by the Construction Research Institute of Malaysia (CREAM), an institute under CIDB Malaysia, is now equipped with facilities to test Railway Sleepers and Bearers used in Malaysia’s railway construction industry. These facilities were completed in 2023, and CREAM aims to expand MKRM’s railway testing to encompass all railway components, including tracks, fasteners, welded joints, and complete railway systems.

YB Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan also visited the Central Region Malaysian Construction Academy (ABM) to observe its latest facilities, including the Heavy Machinery Simulator Workshop. This workshop is part of an effort to digitalise training to enhance trainees’ practical learning efficiency and effectiveness. The delegation also toured the welding workshop, an initiative by CIDB Malaysia implemented by CIDB Technologies to strengthen the construction workforce’s skills in critical technical fields.

The visit was also attended by Puan Zainora Zainal, Chief Executive of CIDB Malaysia, officials from the Ministry of Works, CIDB senior management, CEOs of CIDB subsidiaries, and media representatives.
