Collaboration between PR1MA and CIDB: Various Reforms and Improvements for the Local Construction Industry

In conjunction with the International Construction Week (ICW) and BuildXpo 2024, which was held from 22 October until 24 October 2024 at MITEC, KL, QUEST 2024 is a recognition and award ceremony for construction industry players organised by CIDB. QUEST 2024, previously known as SHEQ Day (Safety & Health, Environment, and Quality Day), returns with a new name and more detailed objectives.

QUEST 2024 brings a new dimension that is more comprehensive and inclusive. As a progressive step, CIDB has introduced an award to recognise industry players who have achieved outstanding performance in the evaluation of the Contractor’s Capability and Ability Evaluation Program (SCORE) and also those who have successfully gone through the Contractor’s Quality Management System (CQMS) audit process, where the implementation of this CQMS also contribute to SCORE scoring.

The collaboration between PR1MA and CIDB will bring various innovations and other collaborative activities, such as the Center of Excellence (COE), for training and information sharing. It will play an important role in developing construction technology in Malaysia. Next, this collaboration will involve implementing the Contractor Development Programme, which will record and evaluate the contractor’s ability to implement high-tech projects, thus further increasing the contractor’s credibility in the construction sector.

PR1MA and CIDB will introduce skills and competency training programmes in which contractors and staff of these companies can participate. This includes inter-agency staff exchanges and pilot programs to improve human resource capacity in the construction sector.

These two parties will also empower and emphasise the sustainability aspects of construction by applying Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles.

“This collaboration will be able to speed up the development of affordable housing throughout the country, which aligns with the government’s efforts to ensure that more Malaysians have quality homes,” added YBhg. Datuk Seri Haji Mohd Nazri Md. Shariff, Group Chief Executive Officer and Member of the PR1MA Corporation.
