The International Construction Week (ICW) 2024 has once again highlighted Malaysia’s role as a nexus for global trade and innovation in the construction industry. A highlight of the event is the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), jointly organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). The INSP aims to drive up to RM1 billion in trade, enabling Malaysian construction businesses to forge significant international connections across borders.
This year, the INSP hosted buyers from over a dozen nations, including China, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia, alongside a virtual presence from countries like Italy, Poland, and Mexico. These international connections opened doors for Malaysian companies to showcase their expertise, products, and services to an expansive international audience, facilitating cross-border trade partnerships that can reinforce Malaysia’s export capacity and market influence in construction.
The event’s business-matching format offers a seamless way for companies to establish connections with global buyers and suppliers, which enhances Malaysia’s position in global supply chains. ICW’s collaboration with MATRADE highlights its commitment to broadening Malaysia’s trade reach while supporting the construction industry’s integration into sustainable global supply chains. ICW also leverages a virtual platform with AI-driven tools that enable companies to connect and explore potential collaborations beyond the physical event.
The INSP within ICW 2024 is a catalyst for high-impact trade interactions, supporting the construction industry’s expansion and technological advancement on an international scale. This initiative also aligns with CIDB’s mission to modernise construction practices, ensuring the sector remains competitive, sustainable, and technologically progressive.
