The International Construction Week (ICW) and BuildXpo 2024 are pivotal platforms for showcasing innovation in the Malaysian construction industry.
During the opening ceremony, YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Works, praised ICW and BuildXpo 2024 for fostering innovation in the industry. He emphasised the crucial role these events play in driving progress, highlighting cutting-edge technologies such as Industrialised Building Systems (IBS), smart building solutions, and automation technologies.
The surge in innovation is accompanied by booming construction activity nationwide. Mega infrastructure projects, such as Phase 2 of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road, the Pan Borneo Highway in Sabah, and major manufacturing and power plant facilities developments, are driving significant economic activity. These large-scale projects generate jobs and contribute to Malaysia’s robust GDP growth, attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and enhancing the nation’s connectivity.
“This year’s theme, Envisioning the Future of Construction, is especially fitting as we gather to explore how the industry will evolve in the face of new technologies, sustainability demands, and post-pandemic recovery. ICW and BuildXpo 2024 are set to be a platform for showcasing cutting-edge innovations that are poised to drive the future of construction,” the Minister expressed.
The BuildXpo 2024 exhibition will occupy nearly 10,000 square meters, hosting 500 booths and 200 exhibitors. It is anticipated to attract over 15,000 trade visitors from across the industry.
