The Kedah State CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) and the Malaysian Agricultural College came together in a collaborative spirit, with a courtesy visit led by Ms. Mazayu binti Mohamad (Director) and two other officials, Mr. Ja’far bin Abu Bakar (Deputy Director) and Ms. Nor Azlinda binti Saad (Senior Assistant Engineer).
During this meeting, the roles of both agencies were shared. CIDB reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the construction industry, explaining its role as a statutory body under Act 520.
Issues and challenges related to construction projects involving contractors were also discussed. The Director of Kedah State CIDB elaborated on the responsibilities of contractors and the measures CIDB can take to assist clients, particularly government agencies/departments, dealing with issues related to appointed contractors.
Enforcement aspects, such as the Registration of Local and Foreign Contractors (Section 25), Registration of Construction Personnel (Section 33), Accreditation and Certification of Site Supervisors and Skilled Construction Workers (Section 33A (1)), as well as Project Declaration and Levy Imposition (Section 34), were explained comprehensively.
