Seminar And Engagement Session On Facility Management (FM) In Conjunction With ICW 2024

The Facility Management Seminar and Engagement Session, in conjunction with International Construction Week (ICW) 2024 with the theme “Evolving Excellence and Best Practices in Malaysian Facilities Management”, was successfully held from 22 to 24 October 2024 at MITEC, Kuala Lumpur.

The event was organised by the Contractor Development Division (BPK), CIDB, together with CREAM, and supported by key agencies, namely the Ministry of Works (MOW), Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), The Malaysian Asset and Project Management Association (MAPMA), Malaysian Association of Facility Management (MAFM), Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Malaysian Institute of Property & Facility Managers (MIPFM), and the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM).

FM Engagement Session (22 and 23 October 2024)
Three engagement sessions have successfully gathered almost 100 participants. Each session featured two speakers and a moderator, mainly focusing on discussing critical issues related to facility management and views from the public and private sectors. The main objective is to formulate recommendations that can strengthen the practice of facilities in Malaysia

FM Seminar (24 October 2024)
The seminar successfully attracted a total of 269 participants. It became the highlight of the event with a masterclass session from the world’s leading speaker, Mr. Stan Mitchell, Chairman and CEO of Key Facilities Management, Scotland, United Kingdom. The opening speech by YBhg Dato’ Seri Azman bin Ibrahim, Secretary General, Ministry of Works (MOW), called for integrating technology and best practices in facilities management. He emphasised that this move is important to strengthen the construction industry’s competitiveness and ensure that Malaysia’s facilities sector continues to be resilient and competitive globally.

The closing session was delivered by Yang Usaha En. Rozaiman Haji Hassan, Senior General Manager of Contractor & Construction Personnel Development Sector, CIDB, summed up the success of the seminar and engagement session as a combination of experts and professionals from the facilities management industry as a whole. He thanked all involved and conveyed resolutions to enhance technology integration and drive innovation in the sector.

The feedback from the participants was overwhelming as they emphasised the importance of seminars and engagement sessions with facility management experts in the construction industry.

Such programmes are an important platform that can drive the transformation of facility management in Malaysia, paving the way towards a more sustainable, innovative, and competitive future.
