Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of Works, visited the Industrial Construction System (IBS) Industrial Park development site in Sungai Bagan, Machang, during his official visit to Kota Bharu, Kelantan, on 16 July 2024.
In his speech, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan expressed the government’s and local industry’s commitment to developing the 200-acre IBS Industrial Park as a leader in the construction industry economy, especially in the East Coast Region. This approach is expected to be adopted in six other regions in Malaysia to strengthen IBS’s strategic ecosystem network.
The development of the first phase of the IBS Industrial Park, which began on 15 August 2022 in the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP) and is carried out by the Kelantan State Iktisas Development Corporation (PKINK), is ongoing. This phase includes the provision of infrastructure for 47 industrial lots, 60 commercial lots, and 1 IBS Centre of Excellence lot, as well as the development of buildings, roads, drainage systems, and sewage systems with an EPU allocation of RM74.6 million. The development is recording progress of 48.3% and is expected to be fully completed by 4 March 2025.
The Deputy Minister of Works also emphasised the Ministry of Works (MOW) commitment to leading this transformation with close collaboration from stakeholders and industry partners to develop the construction industry in line with the vision of the National Construction Policy 2030.
Background:
The IBS Industrial Park in Sungai Bagan, Machang, resulted from a collaboration between the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB) and the Kelantan State Government, signed in October 2021. The aim is to meet the needs of IBS’s strategic ecosystem network, particularly in the supply of building materials and skilled manpower in the East Coast Region.
Implemented by PKINK, this industrial park is a local industry initiative led by the Kelantan Housing Contractors Association (PKPK) with support from CIDB IBS Sdn. Bhd.
Phase 1: Infrastructure development by the government
Phase 2: Development of industrial and commercial buildings funded by manufacturers and stakeholders.
To date, all 47 industrial lots have been owned and sold.
