The Immigration Department, in collaboration with the Negri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department, detained 87 undocumented foreigners at an affordable homes construction site in Seremban. The raid, conducted on June 12, involved screening 90 foreigners, resulting in the capture of 87 individuals who attempted to flee but were apprehended.
State Immigration Director Kennith Tan Aik Kiang stated that the detainees, aged between 23 and 55, included 52 Indonesians and 35 Bangladeshis, among whom were 14 women. These individuals were found to have violated various provisions under Malaysia’s Immigration laws, such as overstaying and entering the country without valid documentation. Preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of these violations.
Following the raid, the detainees were transported to the Immigration depot in Lenggeng, where they will remain until investigations are concluded. The authorities have also issued notices to the employer and site caretaker to aid in the investigation.
Tan expressed his gratitude to the public for their vigilance and cooperation in reporting illegal activities, urging employers and the public not to hire or harbour undocumented foreigners. He reiterated that stern action would be taken against those who employ or provide shelter to illegal immigrants, as stipulated under the Immigration Act.
This operation highlights the continuous efforts of Malaysian authorities to manage and regulate the presence of foreign workers, ensure compliance with immigration laws, and safeguard the local labour market.
