On Track for Early Completion: Bintulu's High-Impact Federal Projects

The Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, has reported significant progress on two major federal projects in Bintulu, which are expected to finish ahead of schedule by next year. During his recent site inspection, the Minister highlighted the advanced stages of the Kuarters Gunasama Persekutuan Bintulu and the upgrade of Sekolah Menengah Vokasional Bintulu.

The Kuarters Gunasama Persekutuan Bintulu project, managed by the Prime Minister’s Department and valued at RM64.5 million, has reached 33.8% completion. This puts the project 92 days ahead of the original timeline, with a completion date set for July 2025. The project’s scope includes the construction of 70 units of Class F Quarters and 20 units of Class G Quarters.

Additionally, the Borneo Post reported that the Sekolah Menengah Vokasional Bintulu, a venture of the Ministry of Education costing RM21.5 million, has achieved 42% completion, 69 days ahead of schedule. The project, initiated on July 4, 2023, is due for completion in June 2025 and encompasses the development of vocational learning blocks specialising in various disciplines, including culinary arts, fashion, and automotive technology.

These projects exemplify the Malaysian unity government’s commitment to advancing people-oriented projects with meticulous planning and efficiency, in alignment with established standards for quality, cost, and timing.

Minister Nanta also urged contractors to uphold their duties during the defects liability period, ensuring the long-term quality and functionality of the projects. The Public Works Department (JKR) will maintain oversight to meet all standards post-handover. This proactive approach underscores the government’s dedication to enhancing the nation’s infrastructure in a systematic and reliable manner.
