The Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) advises all contractors to ensure that the Contractor’s Registration Certificate (PPK) is still valid for registration before undertaking, carrying out or completing construction work to avoid prosecution. The latest company Coolcare (M) Sdn. Bhd., who did construction work in Selangor, was fined RM70,000.00 by the Shah Alam Sectional Court for carrying out construction work without having a PPK issued by CIDB.
According to the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board Act 1994 (Act 520) Section 25, all construction contractors, whether local or foreign, are required to register with the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (LPIPM) or CIDB before undertaking, carrying out, and completing any construction work in Malaysia. Violating the said Section causes the contractor to be fined not less than ten thousand ringgit but not more than one hundred thousand ringgit by the Court.
